This preggy belly shoot called for a bright and early start. Britney and Rikus arrived just after dawn on a spectacular Port Elizabeth morning. The rising sun’s soft glow in a wide-open field welcomed them. The gentle rays created the perfect backdrop to capture the warmth and love an expectant mother feels toward her unborn child.

The sun climbed higher into the crisp blue sky so the scenery became brighter. The pregnancy shoot focus changed to include some more playful elements. Scan photos, adorable booties, teddy bears or special baby outfits came into play. Dad’s creative skills as a tattoo artist were not to be neglected on this photoshoot. He did a fantastic job by drawing an adorable “baby loading” cartoon on mom’s tum.

We changed location to a more secluded forest spot when the sun got too bright. The theme of the photoshoot evolved yet again. The focus shifted to capturing the intimacy shared between two loving parents. Nobody would guess that mom was clothed at all times because of the strategic placement of dad’s hands and carefully selected camera angles.
